Garmin SUPERSTAR!

Dear Garmin Connect, how on earth did I ever manage without you? And how on earth did it take me this long to discover you? You are like the coolest addition EVER to my Garmin Forerunner personal trainer! Love you!

I’ve had my Garmin for almost a year now (ever since my honeymoon last September) and as great as it’s been on the runs, I’ve been frustrated as heck with it almost right from the get-go, because it seemed to only provide me with straight statistics, no graphs. It also, it seemed, would not allow me to upload any of the stats that it did provide onto the web. I could download the stats from my Garmin to my computer, but not onto the web, which I thought was totally silly, and especially infuriating when I became a blogger. I even resorted to reading through the manual, which in itself is quite the feat for me, but it didn’t mention a thing about graphs, or uploading to the web, or anything else. I was beginning to think it was a lost cause.

But wait …. after reading 5 Miles Past Empty, and looking through all the stats that she provided, I thought there’s got to be a way. And yes, there was. Never, ever, ever forget that Google is your friend. With just one search that mentioned “Garmin” and “uploading” and “web” I found my treasure: Garmin Connect.

How cool is this? My stats and route and graphs and pace and time and everything else from last night’s run:

Teenage Wasteland 2: This is what I call my 6k school route as I passed 6 schools, 3 of which I attended

Unfortunately, however, the Garmin Connect embed code isn’t compatible with WordPress, so I had to do a bunch of screen shots, but hey, it’s a step closer than where I was yesterday, and still very, very cool 🙂

YESTERDAY’S RUN:

(I will still be providing these stats as they go beyond just the run like including my blood glucose readings)

  • 5:30 p.m. BG before: 8.1
  • Warmup: 5 minute walk
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Time: 37.20
  • Average Pace: 6.12 minutes per km
  • Cool down: 5 minute walk
  • 10 minutes stretching
  • 6:15 p.m. BG after: 4.4

The run was a bit of a bog. My legs felt like lead and my calves were super tight, as were my ankles … I’m thinking I’m going to have to come up with an ankle exercise to make them a wee bit stronger!

Discovery of the day: Deodorant does in fact go bad, sour even! Ewwwwwww!

Blech!! I did NOT need the sour deodorant info. Blech!! All them maps and graphs and such are certainly cool to look at … but EEEWWWWW do NOT need deodorant descriptions. BLECH!!

WOW!! Just one more thing, I noticed your avg pace was about 6 min/km … but then your BEST pace was about 3 min/kim – you cut in half so you were doing it TWICE as fast – were you being chased by a dog!! Or WHAT!!?? Please explain that one!!

  3. Woohoo! Glad you love it! For some reason my software won’t work and I can’t get all of those stats… I should probably work on trying to fix that, but I’ve been a little lazy…
