Valentine’s redux

Worst wife EVER! So I sort of kind of forgot about Valentine’s Day this year, which wouldn’t have been so bad had Valentine’s Day not also been the day my dear husband proposed to me two years ago. In my defense, I’ve had a lot on the brain and a lot going on in my life lately, and something was bound to cave in, and unfortunately it was the memory of St. Valentine.

So when I walked down the stairs of the condo yesterday morning and caught a glimpse of the gifts sitting on my breakfast plate, my initial reaction was in fact, oh crud. Not only did I forget, I also sort of, kind of, booked a date with my pilates peeps for Monday evening. Double crud. Luckily for me, I’ve got an amazing husband (yes, I am getting all gushy) who loves to spoil me. And spoil he did.

This is what my breakfast looked like:

Yep, Chris Cornell was sitting at the breakfast table with me … well, by way of a ticket to his upcoming acoustic concert!!! And there was the Sookie Stackhouse books and Malbec wine (notice the orange) and the 10 Things I Hate About You blu ray and chocolates. Oh were there ever chocolates: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, lavender chocolate, almond and sea salt chocolate = yu-um! All things I do so very much love.

And tonight, I redeemed myself. I made Mario dinner – chicken stew with biscuits – and if you add up the Princess dinners this year, that’s 2 in 2 months … 1 more than last year!

Let’s be clear though, this will NOT become habit. Cooking takes far too long! We didn’t eat until 8 p.m. and I’m freaking exhausted, which means no time for the trainer. The things I do for love 😉

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

  1. Lucky duck! Haha I got nothing for Valentines day! But that’s okay Josh is just too absent minded to remember holidays! I see you got ten things I hate about you. I seem to remember an Aunt who took me and sister to that movie when we were like 10 years old haha, I don’t recall my mom being very happy about that one!

  2. You’re a better wife than me. I don’t do anything for my wonderful husband’s birthday, except not complain about the presents he gets himself, and I don’t do anything about Valentine’s Day. He, on the other hand, finds something spectacular every few years. This year Indochina by Sedan Chair.
    We love the brunette thing.
