Coming clean…

Sooooo, you know how I’ve majorly reduced my running in the last few months, and how I said it was because I was burnt out, that was a lie. And you know how I’ve been getting my hemoglobin A1C done every month for more than a year, and have said it’s because I’m all OCD about blood sugar perfection, that was a lie (sort of ;)). And you know how I’ve been majorly struggling with low blood sugars the last while and I said I had no idea why, that too was a lie.

The truth, my friends, is it was all part of the plan.

Two years ago, after years of swearing high and low I would never go on an insulin pump, I switched from injections to the pump. There were two reasons. One, it was said the pump was way more flexible with running. And two, it was said Lantus insulin (which was required for injections) was not conducive to pregnancy. That was the main reason.

And so, here you are, the truth:
Princess and Big Ring sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Baby Tartelette in the baby carriage!

As a diabetic, I knew there was way more preparation into getting pregnant than the normal chicks out there. I hate to say it, but romance could really only be a small factor in the equation. Everything had to be so absolutely precise, even to the point where my HbA1c for the month had to be under 7.0 at the point of conception; it was 5.8 – the lowest it’s EVER been! I also had to make sure I was taking an insane amount of folic acid, more so than the average pre-pregnant chick, to ensure no birth defects.

But the pre-pregnancy preps was nothing compared to the pregnancy and diabetes goings on. More on the later… for now, I’m just happy as can be 😀
