Welcome back Mr. Sneakers

Hello world 😀 Even though I’m not training for anything right now, and even though my mileage has SIGNIFICANTLY decreased in the last few months, my world is still not complete without being able to lace up my sneakers and hit the pavement on a regular basis. And for more than 2 weeks, my world has not been complete. Sneakers with no feet are sad sneakers indeed As many of you know, I was suffering a nasty cold that lasted forever! It started in my head and progressively got worse filling my chest up with congestion and other such grodies. Dear Diabetes also reared her ugly head as a result. During my training days, I probably would have fought through the head cold, but once it’s in your chest, there’s no way I was taking chances with pneumonia. And so, I spent the last 2 weeks saddled up on the […]

Pop goes the shoulder

Hello pavement, meet my face… If it wasn’t so shocking or so extremely painful, I might have actually been laughing. We were on the homeward stretch of our 5 km evening run, about a kilometre away from completion, we were talking, I was feeling good, my calves were as loose as a wet noodle, I was getting ready to surge forward. It’s not because the rapid fire of F bombs exiting my mouth offends me, or because I’m too lazy to lift a ladle or saute onions, or because I’m a horrible cook. That’s not true at all, I’m actually quite decent at it when I put my mind to it. Nope, the reason I choose not to cook is because it’s a bloody marathon! Seriously, four hours slaving over a hot stove (and that does not include the dessert aspect of the evening) left me so drained, achy and exhausted

Checkmate

He can deny it all he wants, ’til the cows come home, even longer (and you know he will), but I know the truth, as I’m sure many of you do too. The Big Ring is a runner! For more than a year now Big Ring has been going on and on about how he’s not a runner, runners are weird, runners are strange, why would anyone want to be a runner – especially when cycling is the other option? And yet, he’s been running. On one of our first runs together this fall; can’t you just see the enjoyment on his face? See, the spring, summer, fall months are generally his cycling months, but once mid fall on the West Coast hits, it’s about five months of cold, wet weather that his precious Lapierre just cannot withstand. And in this household, we like our cookies and chocolate – a lot!
